Food-safe compounds

At Bekina® Compounds we understand how important food safety is for companies in the food industry. With our extensive experience in producing high-quality rubber compounds, we’re happy to advise you on choosing the right material that fully complies with the strict standards of the food sector.

Our food-safe compounds comply with the most important international regulations regarding food contact, FDA CFR 21 §177.2600 and EU 1935/2004 standards. The polymers are selected on the basis of inertness, low migration, temperature resistance and chemical resistance.

Our food-safe compounds are made from polymers such as: EPDM, NR, NBR, Silicone (VMQ), FKM, etc.

EPDM

Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer

  • Properties: Good resistance to hot water and steam, low migration
  • Typical applications: Seals in pipes, tanks

NR

Natural Rubber

  • Properties: High elasticity and good workability
  • Typical applications: Hoses, gaskets and seals

NBR

Nitrile Butadiene Rubber

  • Properties: Good oil and grease resistance, suitable for contact with animal and vegetable oils
  • Typical applications: Hoses, gaskets and seals

VMQ

Silicone Rubber

  • Properties: Inert, excellent temperature resistance, odourless and tasteless
  • Typical applications: Seals, hoses and membranes

FKM

Fluorelastomer

  • Properties: High chemical resistance, low permeability, suitable for aggressive cleaning agents
  • Typical applications: Critical seals in process equipment
